Born in the Russian Federation and raised in the Ukraine, Nina Basharova's artistic journey began while being exposed to her parent's community of actors, writers and painters. She was inspired by that creative environment and merged her love for culture with an affinity for jewellery steeped in history.

She began her studies with Fine Arts while living in the Ukraine and went onto get a degree in Jewellery Design at the Art College in Haifa. There she was twice honored with the prestigious Sharett Scholarship of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and had her work displayed in the Museum of Art in Ramat Gan.

She arrived in New York in 2002 throughout this time she has been diligently creating her own collection, focusing on carving out her own original identity of hand finished pieces that blend together an artisan's eye for craft and detail with a truly modern sensibility. Each one of her collections has been recognized by press and various jewellery competitions for an individual piece of work.

A piece from her first collection "Milky Way" was included in the book "500 Bracelets" (Larks Books, 2005) and then again in the follow up book, "500 Earrings." In 2006, the collection was chosen by World Gold Council and panel of jewellery trade experts for promotion.

She has received many international and illustrious awards, including:
Geometrichemozioni 2006 by 'Trissinooro Consortium, Trissino, Italy
Electornos2006 by 'Amberif' in Gdansk, Poland.

In 2006 she received prizes in 6 competitions such as Second Place in American Vision Awards by MJSA, First Place in Diva Awards by The Women's jewellery Association, and overall winner in The Jewelry Arts Awards by Lapidary Journal. In addition her work has recently been featured in numerous consumer magazines like Cosmopolitan, Modern Bride, The Knot as well as upscale jewellery trade periodicals: Vioro(Italy), Lustre, Modern Jeweler and JCK Magazine.

Simplicity and perfection of a circle with its endless associations and meanings—from timeless solar symbol to Plato's perfect geometric form.

Repeating itself upon itself it creates patterns that evoke images of raindrops, freckles, polka dots, cherry blossoms. Unified under one cosmic banner across the sky—the Milky Way.

The Barbed Wire collection is the re-invention of a symbol of oppression and imprisonment into a piece of fine jewellery. The use of this brutally iconic structure to hold precious stones or pearls is key to the impact of this collection.

The term 'barbed' also refers to a comment with double meaning. The polished golden wire who's barbs are clasping a beautiful stone is a counter-point to the usual associations, and an ironic statement for a woman who might choose it for an engagement ring.

Organic in inspiration, sterling silver wraped around stones, both protecting and revealing the colorful, precious cargo.

Like peas in a pod or pearls in a shell, it is an offering, a gift, a precious kernel safely held.

The rich colors of large gems and strong structures in precious metal are like painting and sculpting in jewellery to me.

Rock candy combines a Byzantine opulence with the iconic intensity of gold encrusted with jewels. It is the stuff of pirate legend and the great quest in more than one tale of buried treasure.

Like stars rotating across the heavens Orbit is ever-changing. As it turns it echoes the delicate spiral arms of galaxies and the orbits of satellites and moons.

With diamonds that are like stars traversing the heavens, comet tails of golden wire trace their paths around a swirling galactic core. At the heart of it is a singularity in design.

The ellipsis is a part of language that doesn't need to be spoken, the trailing off into silence indicated by three dots at the end of a sentence indicating that the meaning is clear.

Made of diamond beads that resemble the form of sequins on fabric as well as the dots on a page and framed by large and bold yet simple forms, 'Ellipsis' is a paradox, being at the same time both opulent and understated.
